Glass Roof

Overview

Designed to cover the sunken courtyard of a house built in a redundant water tank, this glass roof is formed of stainless steel 'gutter trusses'. Like a river, their profile widens and deepens in response to the flow of water, and between them span laminated glass arches, with an interlayer to reduce heat gain from the sun. Happily, the covered space proved cooler and more comfortable than when it was open to the sky.
